Operating since 1782, Sworders is one of the longest established fine art auction houses in the UK, now conducting over 45 auctions each year. Specialist categories include British and European paintings, Asian Art, jewellery, watches, furniture, silver, 20th century design and modern and contemporary prints.

Our head office and auction rooms are based five miles from Stansted airport, in the village of Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex. The purpose-built, award-winning, eco-friendly premises provides spacious, comfortable auction rooms, over 200 car parking spaces, loading facilities and a sale day cafe.

Combining exceptional personal advice, a deep understanding of the world or art and antiques and innovative, thoughtful marketing, Sworders operates internationally, providing valuation and auction services worldwide. We ensure our client's works are seen, desired, and purchased by the world’s largest art markets in Europe, America and Asia.

Launched in March 2019, Sworders’ London Gallery, with 700 square feet of exhibition space and a private valuation room, is now open from Monday to Friday for free auction valuations, auction preview events and insurance and probate work.

The gallery welcomes walk in visits throughout the week, though should visitors wish to discuss an item of a particular specialism, it is advised to call ahead to check dates and availability for the appropriate valuer.
